Heading back to T.O. & N.Y.

Feels like we’ve been in the Toronto / Jersey area alot lately… I guess we have… I’m excited to get back… truth is, I’m excited to just get back on the road… as much as we pine for home when we’re gone there’s just something about being rested and reuniting with the guys, getting back on stage with a clear head and a rested body - that feels like me doing what I was created to do. I LOVE doing what I do by the way… I’m so fulfilled to have the creative outlet that I have. So blessed, so lucky, so grateful. It’s interesting to me too - in reading the comments - at how many of you that read the blog are also musicians (aspiring or otherwise) and are dealing with many of the same issues/challenges. I think it’s cool, I’m excited about the relationship that can come of our little internet relationship.   I’m off to soundcheck -   tim.

  4. Kristin Says:

I’m really glad you guys love what you do. I know a lot of people love what you do! Blessings… ahh, well I’m learning to just be content. To recognize the blessing that I do have and just say, I have enough. Our pastor has been talking about that recently and it’s not easy, but it’s beautiful. You guys rock as always, I’m blessed that I got to go to one of your concerts by chance! And if I never see another one, which I hope I will get to see many more, I will never forget that one. It was a life-changing experience. So thanks for living out your call!

  5. Amanda Says:

Every year, since I was four years old, my parents would send me to spend the summer with my grandparents in California. They were both very active members within Calvary Chapel and Pastor Chuck was a close friend. He took me aside at four and we had a long talk. He later told my grandparents that I knew more about Chrisianity than most adults did. That was grand but the summer ended and I returned home to my family (who were not Christians at the time) and it was like a light was turned off. I was a whole different person and I never once mentioned God. Flash-forward two years. My younger brother was five and was sent ahead of me to California. I arrived a couple of weeks later and my brother was waiting for me at the airport with my grandparents. He was cluthing his Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes (he was five, mind you) and tears were streaming down his face. As soon as I got close enough to him, he whispered to me, “you knew I wasn’t going to heaven and you didn’t tell me.” The statement wasn’t accusatory or spiteful but the underlying hurt was so clear, so evident. You can imagine how startled my six-year-old self was by this! That moment forever changed my life and ever since then, I’m not afraid to share my slavation with anyone. Especially, those I care most about!
Among many things, this is something that I’m thankful for…

    Much love,
    Amanda

  7. Jennifer Says:

i totally agree with Emily i think that your music is just amazing but your passion for the lord is just so much stronger and for you guys to be able to share your faith when you are out on the road whether it is speaking it or singing. you guys are so inspirational to the young people and you music just lets them know that no matter what happens in your life our heavenly father will always be there for you. i remember the first time i saw you guys live at Dare2Share and i fell in love with your music because it was so inspiring. so thank you and keep up with the work that GOD has given you to do.
    GOD Bless!
    Jennifer

  8. Meghan Says:

Wow, just let me say, Amanda, that that is a powerful story, and thanks for sharing.

And thanks to you Tim for your openess; I also enjoyed reading the responses to your last blog, and hearing the powerful responses that so many people have to what you guys bring in your worship. It’s always definitely “more than a song” :) And yeah, you have been in Ontario (my home province) a lot lately, more than I have, in fact! Anyway, see you in Victoria!!!

  9. Meghan Says:

Oh, and I meant to say that I’m thankful for amazing music ;) and for the second home (fantastic friends and a great church community) I’ve found here in B.C…

  10. Emily Says:

Can’t wait to see you guys in the little town of Chatham!
it’s coming up so fast, I cannot wait!
I first saw you guys on the KLove cruise this year, and man what an experience.
I was touched in SOOO many ways, when I left for the cruise, my faith was there, but not strong, I was questioning lots, and didn’t know what to do about it, the cruise changed everything, Everyones music was so inspiring, and being on the boat and seeing the world that god created was life changing. It was a truly wonderful experience.
I’m glad you guys were on the boat and now coming to Chatham! It’s a part of my life that I will never forget!

  11. Adrienne Says:

I just discovered you guys a week ago and you rock! I LOVE your music! I’m the music director of a small church in Guelph and I lead a youth worship group there…I’ll be taking the kids on a “field trip” to see you in Cambridge and I can’t wait! 6 months ago I had no idea that there was such cool Christian music in the world. Bands like you are truly a blessing to Christians of this decade!

So, I’m feeling blessed by AWESOME Christian music these days. By wonderful community in both my worship groups at my church. By extremely good health all of a sudden. AND SPRING! Wooohooo! God is good, ALL THE TIME!

Keep it goin guys! Bands like yours provide the inspiration for many in His flock.

  12. Remy Says:

I, along with most people have times when it is struggle to be content, and to feel blessed. It really makes me feel blessed however, when I see one of my friends or anyone in general who has not had the oppurtunity to grow up in a Christian home and lifestyle, and they feel hopeless and have no peace when they’re faced with a problem. It really makes me feel extremely blessed to know I have the support, and was lucky enough to grow up in a Christian home, and to feel peace when faced with a trial.

  13. Paula Says:

    Hey Tim,

Didn’t know quite where to leave this comment.

I’m so glad to see another video of you guys. The only other ones I have are of the Logan Show way back when, and the “Making of Starfied” (really awesome). I’m just gonna make a suggestions here. Although I play your CD’s in the car all day, and they are an incredible inspiration, it just seems your live performances could use a keyboard, Just something to smooth things out a bit. Maybe that’s not what you guys are about and you certainly are smooth on the recordings. I jsut think a keyboard might “wow” the live performances a bit.

Thanks for the incredible music. You guys “get it” in ways other bands don’t. I don’t quite know how to describe it. I just know when I hear you guys on the radio or on the CD, it’s like, “Oh, that’s exactly what I was looking for.” You hit us right in the heart where it’s needed.

    Sincerely
    Paula

  14. Caitie Says:

I am so glad that you all love doing what you do! cuz if you didn’t like to sing and get people closer to GOD with your music i don’t know what i would do! after going to REURRECTION 08 in Gatlinburg, TN you seem to have pulled me closer to GOD than i actually thought i was! and i think that is really cool! listening to your music is getting me closer and closer to god and making me realize what blessings we have! and i just want to be as close to god as possible! your great job is getting people to know GOD! I hope to see you at RESURRECTION 09!

    GOD bless,
    Caitie

  15. Kelsie Says:

I’m 18 turning 19 in June and I wish I would have known about you guys a lot earlier. I feel jiped becuase i didn’t know about you guys. I don’t know how you do it. Get on stage and not be afraid. I’ve been playing the violin for 9 years and the piano for 10 and I still get very nervous when I have to perform. Being 1st chair in teh 2nd violins I once in a while have a small solo and I hate it! I’m so afraid of messing up. You guys are awesome and I hope you never change. God bless

  16. tessa Says:

Just wanted you to know that you guys have lit a fire in me. I have such a STRONG desire to worship and lead worship and use my music to change lives. Even writing this gets me excited about it. And I know this is from God- that He has placed an itch in my heart that cannot be scratched with anything other than music. Starfield was my inspiration to start playing guitar, and has instigated a burning to start a band and become a musician. Thank you so much. I really admire you guys.

Umm…I don’t know how much time you have, but it would mean a lot to me if you would email me and…well… I don’t know. Talk about your life, I guess, and how it is to be on the road and be in constant worship with strangers. Did you know this is what you wanted to do when you were my age, 17? How did you start? How did you know to respond to this call? I know God will make it happen for me if it is to- but I am certain my music will touch lives. I wish, and hope and pray that I can, too, inspire as many as you do every day…but God has a plan for me. And I know it.

    Thanks very much.
    your avid fan, Tessa

I’m so incredibly blessed to have a loving and forgiving family. They have given me a slight glimpse into the reality of God’s love and forgiveness. I am in love with the Savior of my soul. For this longing for Him that He has put in my heart, I am eternally grateful. I only pray that I can live it out.

    God bless you!

To start out, I want to thank you for all that you’ve done for the people that listen to you music. Your words reflect what God has done for us and what he is going to do for us. I just want to thank you for being genuine and for being what God told you to be. I love that you are writing these blogs to tell us what’s on your minds and hearts.
I’m so glad that you find peace onstage and that you enjoy worshipping God. I play drums and that’s where I feel that I am using the talents that God has given me to worship him. :)
Thanks for helping to change the world and be an inspiration to young people

  31. Laura C Says:

I love how open you guys are. It’s great that you serve God using the talents God gave you. It’s something I am still trying to do, I feel God pulling me towards cooking, so this summer I am doing this internship in Mass. I feel God calling me to Missions, but I am really not sure. I feel if that if they don’t have a church service then I’ll step ip to the plate, and start my own bible study, I know this has not very much to deal with you guys, but I am asking for advice. What do you think I should do if there is no church service?

  32. Katie Says:

I was at a friend’s house today and I showed her starfields videos and we spent 2 hours watching your videos and her family are not at all Christian. What got me even more excited was when she was playing her guitar and I showed her the music to revolution and I put that song on YOUTUBE and she played right along I was so happy!! I just have to say thank you to you guys so much (and Tim not trying to say a 13 year old girl can out spell you or anything but you don’t spell alot like that, it’s two words not 1 (a lot.) I hope that all is well and I am done!!!
    :)

  33. Katie Says:

Oh yeah I am trying to persuafe my mum to let me go to your concet in may in toronto!!! It’s a lot closer then Kingston and I won’t have to get up at 4:00 in the morning to see your band play!! :)

  34. Katie Says:

persuade sorry not persuafe lol :)

  35. Veronica Says:

Yeah i know what you mean - my life’s been so busy lately but as soon as I get some time off I end up wanting to do something again. I aspire to be a minister/missonary and a worship leader (hopefully as good as you guys!) and I’m so blessed and grateful to have a family and friends who support me in that. Thank you for being an inspiration.

  36. Mary Says:

Just wanted to say thanks for coming to Rutgers yesterday and leading worship :)! It really was an amazing experience, and I know I speak for all who attended yesterday when I say that I’m really greatful you guys took the time to come to Resound. You are all amazing and were such a blessisng to hear! Your music has been a mutual interest in my youthgroup and impacts so many of us; the lyrics are just that powerful. So… thanks again for that and everything, honestly.

  37. Kelly Says:

That’s really crazy because I just got back from a chruch retreat and the whole theme was about the blessings in your life. Somewhere near the top of my list was my music and the friends that I write with. I just wanted to let you guys know what an inspiration you are to me. You are amazing people and I can’t wait to see you in concert again!

  38. Esther Says:

You guys were amazing yesterday. I’m blessed that I actually had a chance to experience something like your and Phil Wickham’s music. Thank you for giving hope and inspiration for the younger generation. And I was the one right in front of you, tim. :)

  39. Jamie Says:

    hello hello,
i was one of the many people who attended the RESOUND 2008 concert last night at Rutgers Univ. and it is true what they say about you guys, YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME LIVE. hahah

it’s so awesome to read these blogs and to get inside of what you guys are going through and still continue to see that you guys aren’t losing sight of what is important. many people that get the fame lose sight, and it’s such a blessing to see you guys aren’t one of them.

i know how you guys feel, having to go here and there and never really get to see your family as often as you’d like. my sister and i serve in 3 different ministries. one is at our home church as a sunday school teacher and a youth leader. another ministry for the public high school’s in NY, and another is in florida, where we are leaders. it’s always difficult and always tiring but in the end we all realize that we’re not doing this to glorify ourselves, and to show everyone how diligent we are or whatever, but it’s to show glory and honor to our Lord and Savior. and not matter how much persecution we may get from our peers, that’s fine, because we know that we’re going to be blessed. i only pray for blessings upon the whole group and your personal families as well.

    All Glory to God,
    -Jamie

  40. Anna Says:

Hey! =) I’ve never contacted a band before, but for some reason I am today. I really enjoy your music because God totally uses it to show me new things & just get closer to Him. I haven’t listened to the new cd much, but i’ve always enjoyed the “I wanna hold the hand that holds the world” It’s just so cool what God gives you… =) I really enjoy writing poetry about God, but I haven’t taken any steps to get poems out there. So I guess it’s inspiring to see bands and how they get what God gives them out ya know? =P I actually wrote my first song and thought I’d try and get feedback from you but a blog doesnt seem the best place to post a whole song & there doesnt seem to be fanmail, haha, but oh well, I hope you guys are having a great day! Unfortunately I missed you in Wichita KS, I actually had a choir show to be in, heh but its still cool to listen on cds. =P Thanks!

  41. Steven Says:

OK, Thanks for your great music. What churches need is music that is not only meaningful/biblical, but also creative/energizing and awesome-sounding! (and not the same chord progressions in D+, G+ and E+, lol) I love what you guys are doing. Keep it up!

I’m trying to learn to do the same.

    -Steven

PS. I’m sorry can’t go to May 10th in TO (S-T Missions), but please help us make a HUGE impact for God. Toronto needs it BAD!!

  42. Lisette Says:

    Hee Tim,

It’s fun to read something like this:) But, I think it’s quite normally that you love what you do, because if you wouldn’t love what you do, I think that you won’t do it than…(you understand?;))
I listened to the radio, and I heard: STARFIELD is coming to the EO youth day:D whaaha… happy happy happy:)
(… I live in the Netherlands!;))

  45. Sarah Says:

I think its so graet how pasionate you are about what god has called you to do! You have inspired and lead so many people to god through your music. GOD BLESS you Tim, Jon, Gordie, Dave <3 (He already has)

  46. Jamie Says:

Tim, you guys are so amazing in what you do. You are a group of very talented people, and I am genuinely impressed with all the amazing songs that you write. I wish that I could write music. Hi, Starfield

We were at the concert in Central Hieghts Church. We could tell that it would’ve been woderful, but it kind of got interupted. We got injured and are still in shock from what happened. We still love you as a band and are happy you didn’t get hurt. It was God who saved the lives of everyone. Even though it was very bad it was also a true miracle that no one was killed. Keep your music alive.

    God bless you.

I was at the concert and am still pretty freaked out. I know that Starfield is on tour and obligated to put on their performances. They are pretty freaked out, too, no doubt. But, wouldn’t it be nice if we could actually see them play? I want them to do a concert for us still. How can we make that happen even if it is after their tour?

  72. Hannah Says:

    Hello Starfield,

I thank you for coming to Abby.
One will never know how God works, but He is working, even though this incredible accident.
You guys were great, God is awesome and again so glad i got to hear you guys live… i have always preferred live music… it just has so much better/more quality.

God Bless, have a good rest of your tour!

  73. dave pettigrew Says:

    tim,

thanks for the post. i know how you feel and yes, there are quite a few musicians dealing with the same issues, me being one of them. it is awesome to do what we were created to do, even if at a part time level, it’s awesome to draw people closer to God through the music that he’s given us…killer killer stuff..it’s also awesome to use the stage as a vehicle to get help to kids in need. i’m a world vision artist associate as well & it’s a cause that i really believe in wholeheartedly and every kid that gets sponsored at one of my shows is one more child shown the love of Christ from someone thousands of miles away….out God is truly amazing….

all the best & all for Him,
    dave

you guys are back in Toronto in one week and I just can’t wait! I only discovered your music a year or two ago but have since bought all your cds. you guys are my favourite band! your intense focus on the things of God has been inspiring and brought focus to my own life when the storm seems too big to handle.

I want to thank you for the music you make that glorifies our Maker and I know that He will bless you as you continue to follow in His plans for your life.

I recently discovered, with great excitement, that you guys would be in the Mitchell’s bookstore the day of the concert (May 10) …only to realize that I can’t go because I’m writing an exam at that time. Please tell me that someone else can appreciate the irony that I can’t meet my favourite band because I’m writing a music exam.

anyways…I’m just grateful that I can make it to the concert after my exam.

looking forward to a great concert where people from all over are gathered because of Christ!

    Hey Starfield!

I absolutely adore your music. It rocks! (no,literally!)
My dad knew you, Tim and Jon, from when we lived in Winnipeg.
I was going to come to your show in Kelowna, but couldn’t. I heard about the accident in Abbotsford, and have been praying for all the afflicted.
Your song, “I Will Go” has really encouraged me to pick going on a Missions trip to Mexico over buying an electric guitar. Especially the lyrics,”Let me not be blind with privilege, give me eyes to see the pain. Let the blessing you’ve poured out on me not be spent on me in vain.”
you guys have really inspired me, and I just want to encourage you. I hope to see you live in a concert soon!

  84. AJ Says:

Hey guys, thanks for the update. I just wanted to share a very very interesting speech I found on google video.

It’s by a famous (in the ’80s) former secular musician, who’s found Christ. He talks about how to discern the true difference between Godly and worldly music.

There has been much debate over this issue, but he gives some amazing scientific, historical and Biblical facts that enlighten the issue of music and worship.

Google Video “401 The Language of Music” Check it out. I think it will change your life.

The video is produced by Amazing Facts from Delta, B.C.

Thanks to you, Starfield, my boys listen to Christian music all the time. They play guitar and drums respectively and we’ll hear you again when you come in the fall to Newmarket. I as a Mom pray for you each day!! I’m not a fan, but a friend. I will support you however I can!!
